1st SAIL THIS YEAR IS REWARDED WITH 1st PLACE in Class.

During the weekend of 22 & 23 April we entered the demonstration Hip 30 with a crew of three in the "Coup du Chocolate" an annual regatta held in the South of France around Easter time and organised by the International Yacht Club of Grimaud.

In winds varying between force 2 to force 4 on a 17.75 nautical miles coastal course from Grimaud to Cavalaire sur mer and back again, we won both legs. We had a head wind all the way on the outward leg and the self tacking jib enabled high pointing angles and quick, effortless tacking. On the return leg we started with wind on the nose again but as the wind veered we were able to fly the assymetric spinnaker much sooner than our competitors with symmetric spinnakers, giving a very useful advantage.
